Inno.CNT: from carbon nanotubes to safe and viable applications to address challenges of the society

  • Carbon nanotubes (CNT) as nano enhancer have several powerful potentially applications in nano-composites to address urgent challenges of the society, such as efficient conversion of especially renewable energy sources, efficient use of energy and other resources (lightweight materials, catalysis,...) and efficient energy storage (batteries, supercaps).
  • The Germany based and partly governmental funded Innovation Alliance “Inno.CNT” (www.inno-cnt.de) addresses technical and application issues of CNT within currently 27 projects and 90 partners, including the parallel consideration of safety issues in two projects.
  • The application fields of Inno.CNT include lightweight construction, mobility, energy, electronics.
  • The successful use of CNT especially for lightweight construction will be highlighted based on the Solar Impulse (www.solar-impulse.com) project.
Dr Peter Kruger, Head of Bayer Working Group - Nanotechnology, Bayer MaterialScience AG
